How it All Started...

Randy opened the original-Randy’s Fish Palace flagship store on Lodi Avenue in 1976. Within a short time, the demand and popularity of the tropical fish hobby warranted opening a second larger store. Randy did this in nearby Stockton. Randy didn’t stop with two stores.... the third satellite store in Lodi on Cherokee Lane opened in 1982. The Stockton "Palace" remained for 20 years at the corner of Thornton Road and Hammer Lane where it was a well known landmark. Our customers, bringing their grandchildren in today, often comment "I remember Wally (the Caimen) when I was a kid."

Reef Nutrition is Available Now!

In the 6th grade, Mom bought me a 5 gallon tank for my birthday with two goldfish and two catfish! This was the beginning. At 16 I got my first job in an aquarium store in Lodi. I have since worked in all aspects of the aquarium business. From fish farms in Florida, a brief stint building aquariums, to retail sales. I love fish, and I love fish people - so retail has been the perfect fit. 43 years in this business, and still going strong! Thank you to all my loyal customers.

As long as I can recall, there has been an aquarium in my home. My dad kept fish at home and a terrarium with 3 rattlesnakes behind his desk in his office.. My sister and I had every pet imaginable as kids. Wet pets, furry, slithery, tortoises etc. My first fish store experience was in the 70s when I helped a friend one summer with her store in Lodi - Wet Pets - (right around the corner from Randy’s Fish Palace on Lodi Avenue) consequently, Randy and I have known each other for many years!
